Darlene grew up surrounded by quilts and quilters. Some of her earliest memories are of playing under the quilt frames at neighbourhood quilting bees. Both grandmothers played a big part in her introduction to quilting, one teaching her hand piecing, the other hand quilting. Darlene has tried her hand at many other crafts over the years, knitting, counted cross-stitch, scrap booking, tole painting, rug hooking, but she always comes back to her first love - quilting!
These days she’s living her dream, at her shop in Digby, Nova Scotia, A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop, sewing, quilting, teaching, designing! Darlene especially enjoys incorporating wool appliqué in her designs. Handwork, machine work, old techniques and new, Darlene loves all aspects of this craft that we love so much!
