Edie Arseneault

I was introduced to rughooking around 1965 by my Mom; my first rug was an Bluenose and I hooked it in rug yarn that winter. I didn’t get back to it until a few years later when I
took a couple of weekend workshops with Muriel Peveril in Amherst, and I was hooked!!!

With much encouragement from Doreen Wright I attended my first rugschool in Truro in 1986 – where I thought I had made a big mistake; everyone else seemed to have so much more experience! I had signed up for a class with Marjorie Judson on fine cut pictorials! I have attended most years since then, even taking both weeks for some years when we had 2 weeks of rug school.

I became a teacher with RHGNS Teachers Branch in 1992 – taught classes way before becoming an ‘official’ teacher! I helped form the first rug hooking group in Amherst in1986. I have taught throughout the Maritimes, several times throughout Nfld. and in Regina, Sask.

I started my Studio because of teaching and have come to love dyeing the wool almost as much as hooking. In teaching, I enjoy so much helping people recognize and enjoy their own creativity in our design classes.
