Rug punching is a wonderful way to create rugs for your home. This workshop
is designed to teach you how to use the Oxford Punch Needle and the basic
techniques for rug punching. We will discuss the different needle sizes
available and the yarns that work best for punching. You will learn how to
transfer a template to your monk's cloth, stretch you fabric on your frame
and how to finish your completed project. A brief history of rug making in
the Maritimes and the tools used by early punchers will be given.
Although you may not finish your project in class today, clear easy to
follow instructions are included in your kit.
Teacher Materials: All materials needed to work your project are provided in
the class kit. The kit includes tack frame, monk's cloth, #9 punch needle,
wool and button thread.
